Tea Time Tuesday

Republic-HiCafA cyber-friend of mine, Angela McRae of Tea With Friends, blogged about this tea. Have you heard of it? She says the Republic of Tea reports, “a serving of premium black tea usually has 50 mg of caffeine, coffee has 100 mg, and this Caramel Black Tea has 123 mg.”

I get a lot of my caffeine from coffee in the morning but If I had to stay somewhere and I could not be sure of coffee in the morning, I would take along some of the caramel, or the coconut, or maybe the black. I still have never had a green tea I could stand, I am not much on mint, and berries seem like they should be ICED TEA.

Monday Mantra–Do What You Love

Do you love and you will love what you do.

I have decided to use that phrase AND this one

Success isn’t the key to happiness, HAPPINESS is the key to success.

as my guides for this week. But, you deserve a picture! We had leftovers last night (Yes, it was my night to cook, AGAIN)

Not actually my kitchen! I have made a promise to myself, if I make an entire meal of leftovers for my family, I will try to make a dessert from scratch. They probably don’t really care but at least I feel like I have made a little effort. Also, no dessert EVER went wasted around here. It pleases me to have made something they enjoyed.  Let’s face it, veggie side dishes that have been reheated three times or a main dish that needed several different kinds of sauces to make it swallowable is not the stuff of happiness. But I choose happiness and with butterscotch brownies made from scratch, I have chosen SUCCESS.

DSC08025A discovery.

I had a luncheon to attend. For four years, I have relied on certain staple items in my wardrobe: $20 Jeans. $5 Tee-shirts, $10 hoodies, husband’s old work socks, clogs from 10 years before, underwear so old even the Smithsonian can’t find an anthropologist with experience to categorize it.

A luncheon.

Why did I wait until the last minute to realize ALL of my “tops” are either stained, elderly, or both.  I found a drawer which had lovely cotton sweaters. I chose a white one. It took me five–FIVE–tries to find a white tee which was still WHITE, unstained,  age indeterminate. Hmmm. A scarf would be just the thing.

Thrift store drawer of scarves–the hostess favors certain shades of aqua, turquoise, teal. I select one, tie it and like the result. It makes the incongruity of the cabled sweater and smooth tee kind of melt to the background. Faux twin set accomplished. Down the stairs. Oh, no! Need to fix hair! Up the stairs. Can’t find clever barrette or attractive AND tolerable headband. Select black hair tie. Down the stairs.

DSC08029Oh, no! Need to wear make-up! Up the stairs. Do I still have make-up? Down the stairs. Oh, no! Make-up is inadequate, must find earrings. Up the stairs.  Can it be that long since I wore earrings? Where are the damn holes?

I have forgotten how TO GIRL.

Walked on the beach, recently. Spent time with beloved family, and one or two wonderful friends–minutes, really, but all the more precious. I might like to retire in Florida once a year for about two weeks. In November or December. Maybe January. February, if I was missing flowers…
